President's Address

Hola SHPE Familia,
Welcome to SHPE Mizzou, the official collegiate chapter of the University of Missouri - Columbia (Mizzou). My name is Jazmin Renteria Gonzalez and I have the honor to serve as the official chapter president for the 2022-2023 academic year. SHPE's mission is to change lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development.
There are many events and collaborations with key partnerships planned for this year, such as collaborations with SHPE Region VI, NSBE (National Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), and the University of Missouri College of Engineering, and I sincerely can't wait to get started. My goal for this year is to follow in the footsteps of our regional and national leaders to develop Hispanic leaders in STEM.
I plan on doing this alongside my executive board by holding those key partnerships close to us while delivering events and presentations that our members need while providing an inclusive space for any and everyone. Whether that be resume reviews, presentations by our sponsors, study halls, etc., I want SHPE to be an environment where you are free to be yourself, unapologetically. That is my vision for SHPE Mizzou for the 2022-23 academic year, and my hopes are that those after me will be able to continue the work I've done.
Sincerely yours,
Jazmin Renteria Gonzalez
